Biography

Corporal William “Will” Chisholm was born March 25, 1894 in Saint Andrews, Antigonish County. He was the son of Andrew Chisholm and Catherine Boyle. William immigrated to New York City in 1911, following his brothers Roderick, Charles, Alexander, Alexander Hugh, and Daniel who had all moved to the area between 1901 and 1911.

Chisholm was one of the five Chisholm brothers of Caledonia Mills who served in First World War. Chisholm enlisted in American Expeditionary Forces on May 14, 1917 and served in the 58th Artillery Unit. He was discharged due to demobilization on May 7, 1919.

After the war, Chisholm married Mary J. Fefel around 1925. Chisholm worked as an Electrician for Edison Company in 1920, and as a lineman for Electric Light Company in 1930 and 1940.William Chisholm died July 23, 1971 in West Babylon, Suffolk, New York. He is buried on Long Island National Cemetery, in Farmingdale, New York.
