Biography

William Alexander Boyd was born August 16, 1895 at Boyd’s Post Office, Frasers Mills, Antigonish County. He was the son  Angus A. Boyd and Mary McIsaac. Boyd was a farmer before enlistment. He enlisted June 12, 1918 at Aldershot Camp, Nova Scotia in the 1st Depot Battalion. Boyd was discharged January 15, 1919 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

After the war, Boyd farmed at his family’s farm at Boyd’s Post Office, Frasers Mills. Boyd then married Helen Rose Maclean of Ohio, Antigonish County, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, in Stellerton, Pictou County on November 23, 1926. They lived at Boyd’s Post office and had a daughter born in 1928 and a son born in 1929.

Boyd was accidently shot while  out hunting on November 1, 1932, and died of his injuries at Boyd’s Post Office, Antigonish. He is buried in South River Cemetery, Antigonish County.
