Biography

Vincent MacEachern was born March 31, 1918 at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, Antigonish County. He was the son of Joseph D. MacEachern and Annie MacGillivray. At the time of his birth his family resided on a farm in South Side Cape George, Antigonish County. By 1921, the family had moved to a farm St. Andrews, Antigonish County. By 1940, he was working as a farmer in St. Andrews.

MacEachern served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War.

After the war, MacEachern farmed in St. Andrews. By 1957 he was working as milkman in St. Andrews. In the 1950s MacEachern married Helen Isabel Tait of Grosvenor, Guysborough County. They had four children. MacEachern’s wife Helen Isabel Tait died on June 6, 1962 at St. Martha’s Hospital. MacEachern died on August 3, 1999 in Antigonish.
