Biography
Private Robert Foster’s military draft recruitment sheet states that he was born December 12, 1897 in Marydale, Antigonish County and was the son of Mary Jane Foster. However, he is listed on the 1911 Census of Canada as a domestic who was born February 1902 England and was living with Annie Chisholm and her daughter Mary Jane Chisholm in Marydale, Antigonish County.
It is stated on his military draft recruitment sheet that he worked as a farmer before enlistment.
Foster enlisted May 25, 1918 at Aldershot Camp, Nova Scotia and served with the First Depot Battalion of the Nova Scotia Regiment. Foster was discharged due to demobilization December 9, 1918 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
