Biography

Owen Cameron was born in Lower South River to Alex and Mary Agnes (MacDonald) Cameron. He attended school in Lower South River, South Side Harbour, and St. Andrews.

Owen attended St. Francis Xavier University from 1941 to 1942 while serving as a member of the Reserve Army. He then completed basic training at Camp Aldershot.

Since Owen’s brother, Donald, was already serving in the Air Force, their father would have no one to operate the Cloverdale Creamery, which was considered an essential service. As a result, Owen was directed to continue working at the creamery.

Owen was married to Margaret “Peggy” Ryan. He passed away on October 14, 2013, at the age of 93, in Antigonish.
