Biography

Joseph “Dody” S. Graham was born in August 1918 in Harbour Centre, Antigonish County, to John and Annie (McKeough) Graham. He grew up in Lower South River, where his family lived on Dunmore Road.

During the Second World War, Joseph enlisted in the Canadian Paratrooper Corps and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served with the Devil’s Brigade, a joint Canadian-American commando unit, and completed his training in Helena, Montana. His brother, William, also served during the war.

Joseph was wounded overseas and returned home on June 20, 1945. After returning home, he married Elimira Landry, and together they had three daughters.

Joseph passed away on May 28, 1987, in Florida.
