Biography
Joseph Eldred “Buster” Crispo was born on July 27, 1925, in Havre Boucher, Antigonish County. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1943 at the age of 18.
He held the rank of Leading Aircraftman and served in Canada, England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany.
For his service, Joseph was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939–45 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Defence Medal.
He received a medical discharge in April 1946 after losing hearing in his left ear.
After his discharge, Joseph married Thelma Elizabeth Landry and became a co-owner of the IGA Foodliner in Antigonish. He was also an active member of the Legion.
