Biography

Private Joseph Angus Boyd was born January 26, 1893 in Frasers Mills, Antigonish County. He was the son of Angus J. Boyd and Ann MacDonald. His brother younger brother Daniel Boyd also fought in the war.

Prior to the war, Boyd was a student at Saint Francis Xavier University.  Boyd enlisted March 9, 1916 in Antigonish as a major for the Canadian Army Medical Corps and served in with the No. 9 Stationary Hospital unit formed by Saint Francis Xavier University. He also served with the No. 10 Canadian Field Ambulance in France. Boyd was discharged March 27, 1919.

Following the war, Boyd worked as a dentist in Stratford, Perth County, Ontario and married Rose Helen McTague. Boyd died while visiting Frasers Mills on July 12 1960. Joseph Angus Boyd is buried in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ontario.
