Biography

Private John Samuel MacIsaac was born in Dunmore to Lauchlin MacIsaac and Mary MacDonald. He enlisted March 16, 1916 in the 193rd Highlanders Regiment. MacIsaac was discharged September 14, 1916 due to being deemed medically unfit.

Following the war, MacIsaac worked Canadian National Railway for 40 years and as a station agent in  Port Hood, Monastery, Heatherton and Tracadie.  MacIsaac married Margaret Mary MacDonnell, in the 1920s, who died in 1956. He later married Elizabeth Grant. MacIsaac died June 4, 1985. He had two sons and a daughter. MacIsaac is buried in St. Peter’s Church cemetery in Tracadie, Antigonish County.
