Biography

Jerome Dan Angus MacDonald was born March 10, 1918 at MacPherson’s Post Office, Antigonish County. He was the son of John L. MacDonald and Isabelle “Bella” MacNeil. His brothers Duncan J. MacDonald and Allan A. MacDonald also served in the Second World War.

MacDonald was accepted into the Canadian Army on January 25, 1941. Over the course of the war he served in Canada, Newfoundland, Britain and Northwestern Europe. MacDonald was honerably discharged January 22, 1946.

Following the war, MacDonald married Marie Josaphine Chisholm of Cross Roads Ohio, Antigonish County. They married in 1954 and had two sons. The family eventually moved to Hamilton, Ontario where MacDonald worked for Ford Motor Company in Oakville, Ontario. MacDonald died on October 10, 2003. He is buried in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Ancaster, Hamilton Municipality, Ontario.
