Biography
Private James O’Hara was born June 22, 1897 in Frasers Mills, Antigonish County. He was the son of Thomas O’Hara and Mary Boyd. Prior to enlistment, O’Hara farmed on his family’s farm in Frasers Mills. O’Hara enlisted in Halifax on November 6, 1918 with the 1st Depot Battalion Nova Scotia Regiment. He was discharged due to demobilization January 15, 1919 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
After the war, O’Hara continued to farm in Frasers Mills, as he is listed as a farmer in Frasers Mills in the 1921 Census of Canada. O’Hara immigrated to the United States in 1924.
O’Hara died December 24, 1926 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He is buried in South River Cemetery.
