Biography
James Ignatius MacDougall was born in Springfield, Antigonish County, on September 19, 1922, to Allan MacDougall and Alice Floyd.
At the age of 19, James joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. He received his initial training in Western Canada before continuing his training in England. Following his training, his unit was transferred to No. 117 Squadron of the Royal Air Force under the South East Asia Command. He was stationed in India and Burma (Myanmar).
James was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Flying Officer. For his service, he received the King George VI 1939–45 Medal, the King George VI Defence Medal, the 1939–45 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and the Burma Star.
James married Florence Wilson, and they had three children. He lived in Stratford, Prince Edward Island, until his death on December 28, 2016.
