Biography

James Collin Boyd was born November 21, 1884 in Frasers Mills, Antigonish County, He was the son of Daniel Boyd and Catherine MacDonald.

Boyd immigrated to the United States in 1900. He is listed as a nurse at Pasadena Sanitorium, Pasadena, Los Angeles, California in the 1910 Federal Census. Before enlistment, Boyd was working as a coachman in New York City.

Boyd enlisted in the Canadian Oversea Expeditionary Force in Toronto, Ontario on February 11, 1918 and was part of the 2nd Battalion of the Canadian Garrison Regiment. He was discharged due to being medically unfit on July 5, 1918 in Toronto, Ontario.

Following his service, Boyd returned to New York City and is listed in the 1920 United States Federal Census as a butler and valet for private families.
