Biography

Private Hugh MacPherson was born July 6, 1884 in Dunmore, Antigonish County. MacPherson was the son of Hugh MacPherson and Mary Gillis. MacPherson had moved to Comox-Atlin, British Columbia by 1911 where he had worked as a miner before the war. MacPherson enlisted in Vancouver on June 3rd, 1916. He served in Canada, England and France, as a sapper for the 131st Overseas Battalion as well as the 2nd Tunnelling Company and the 10th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. MacPherson was discharged June 21, 1919 due to demobilization.

MacPherson died November 18, 1954. He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
