Biography

Private Francis “Frank” Moses Dunn was born April 10, 1896 in Lower South River, Antigonish County. He was the son of James Dunn and Ellen Coady. Prior to enlistment Dunn worked as a farmer in Lower South River. Dunn enlisted June 7, 1918 in the 1st Depot Battalion of the Nova Scotia Regiment. From July 9 to July 25, 1918 Dunn was hospitalized at Camp Hill hospital in Halifax for measles. On September 10, 1918 he was hospitalized at Camp Hill for Nephritis and Bronchitis. Dunn was placed in Category E, unfit to serve and was discharged November 30, 1918 in Halifax.

Following the war Dunn worked on his father’s farm in Lower South River. On September 1, 1936, he married Mary Jeanette Fraser of Port Hastings, at Saint Andrews Church, St. Andrews, Antigonish county.
