Biography

Private Daniel Joseph MacIntosh was born June 26, 1897 in Dunmore, Nova Scotia. MacIntosh was the son of John MacIntosh and Isabella Chisholm. Prior to enlistment he worked on his family’s farm in Dunmore.

MacIntosh enlisted in the 10th Siege Battery in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 29, 1918. After training in Nova Scotia, MacIntosh sailed to England from Halifax on August 8, 1918 on the H.M.T. Nellore and arrived in England on  August 15, 1918. While overseas he served in England and France. MacIntosh returned to Canada on July 1, 1919 was discharged due to demobilization on July 8, 1919 in Halifax.

Following the war, MacIntosh returned to Antigonish County and worked on his family’s farm in Dunmore.
