Biography

Corporal Daniel Angus Chisholm was born February 9, 1879 in Salmon River Guysborough County. He was the son of Andrew Chisholm and Catherine Boyle. The family later moved to Caledonia Mills in 1884. Corporal Chisholm eventually immigrated to the United States following his brothers Roderick and Charles sometime after 1901.

Chisholm enlisted in the 6th Regiment of the American Expeditionary Force with the US Engineers on May 19, 1917. He was one of the five Chisholm brothers of Caledonia Mills who fought in the First World War. Chisholm participated in Champagne and Aisne engagements while in the American Expeditionary Forces. Chisholm was killed in action July 16, 1918 near Crézancy, France. He is buried in Cyprus Hills National Cemetery, Brooklyn New York.
