Biography

Daniel “Dan” Sylvester Callahan was born in New Glasgow, Pictou County in 1918. He was the son of Bartholemew “Bartley” Callahan and Sarah MacIsaac (Hudson). By 1931, he was living in St. Andrews, Antigonish County and was listed on the 1931 Census of Canada as the adopted son of Donald MacDonald.

Callahan was a veteran of the Second World War. Prior to enlistment he worked as a farmer in the St. Andrews area. Callahan married Marcella May Cameron of MacPherson’s Post Office, Antigonish County on October 14, 1944 at St. Andrew Church, St. Andrews.
