Biography

Sergeant Collin Francis Fraser (known as Frank Fraser) was born February 27, 1884 in Lower South River, Antigonish County. Fraser was the son of Angus Fraser and Margaret McKillop of Lower South River. In 1889, his family later moved to Port Hastings, Inverness County, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His younger brother Alexander A. Fraser also served in the First World War with the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was killed in action in France in 1916.

Fraser eventually immigrated to the Western United States and joined the American Army to serve in the First World War. Fraser enlisted in the American Army on May 21, 1918 in 16th Service Company of the United States Signal Corps. Fraser was promoted to Corporal on October 1, 1918 then promoted to Sergeant on August 1, 1919.  Fraser was honorably discharged from the army on August 9, 1919.

Following the war, Fraser resided at 270 North Rose Steet, Mount Clemens, Michigan. He worked as a lineman in the 1920s then worked as painter for odd jobs in the 1930s. Fraser died on July 25, 1954 in the state of Michigan. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit Michigan.
