Biography

Private Charles MacPherson was born August 29, 1894 in Frasers Mills, Antigonish county. He was the son of Donald MacPherson and Flora McInnis. Prior to enlistment he worked as a clerk. By the time of his enlistment MacPherson lived in Cross Roads Ohio, Antigonish county. MacPherson enlisted June 8, 1918 in the Nova Scotia 1st Depot Battalion. He was discharged June 18, 1918 under Category E: unfit for service due to Scoliosis and Varicose Veins.

Following the war, MacPherson moved to Boston, Massachusetts and worked as a railroad brakeman. By 1930 MacPherson had become a railroad conductor and was married to Alice Marr of Pictou County. They had one son. MacPherson died sometime before 1940 as his wife is listed as widowed in the 1940 Federal Census.
