Biography
Private Arthur Leo DeWolfe was born on June 28, 1921, in Merland, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, to Stephen and Margaret Ann (Boudreau) DeWolfe.
Like his brothers, Arthur was a veteran of the Second World War. He enlisted in New Glasgow on December 19, 1941, and served with the Princess Louise Fusiliers in the United Kingdom. In recognition of his wartime service, he was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was discharged from military service in November 1945.
Following the war, Arthur married Margaret Quirk of Roman Valley. The couple settled in Lower South River, where they raised eight children.
Arthur DeWolfe passed away in 1989 in Lower South River. He is buried alongside his wife, Margaret, at St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery.
