Biography
Private Angus Roderick MacPherson was born December 6th, 1895 in Caledonia Mills. Private MacPherson was the son of Roderick MacPherson and Mary MacDonald. Prior to enistment MacPherson worked as a farmer.
MacPherson enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion of the Nova Scotia Regiment on June 3, 1918 and participated in military operations in England and Canada. MacPherson sailed to England from Halifax on August 2, 1918 and arrived in Liverpool on August 16. He was transfered to the 17th Reserve Battalion and was sent to Bourley Wood Segregation Camp in Aldershot, Hampshire upon arrival. MacPherson was admitted to the No. 12 Canadian General Hospital on October 31, 1918 for Influenza and was discharged from hospital on November 11, 1918. He was admitted again on November 22, 1918 for Scarlet fever and was discharged on January 4, 1919. MacPherson returned to Canada in July of 1919 was discharged due to demobolization in Halifax on July 5, 1919.
