Biography
Andrew William Bray was born May 10, 1891 at Copper Lake, Antigonish County. He was the son of Dennis Bray and Margaret Sears. Prior to enlistment he worked as a mail driver.
Bray enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion of the Nova Scotia Regiment on March 13, 1918 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and served in Canada. He was discharged due to demobilization December 18, 1918.
Following the war, Bray worked on his family’s farm in Copper Lake. On August 20, 1926 he married Elizabeth Robertson Ingram of Inverness, Scotland at the Bishop’s Residence in the town of Antigonish. They went on to have two sons and two daughters. By 1931 Bray and his wife had moved into the town of Antigonish and were living on Saint Mary’s Street. Bray was also listed as working at a hardware firm on the 1931 Census of Canada. In later years, he worked as a truckman in the trucking industry.
Bray died February 15, 1956 in the town of Antigonish, Antigonish County.
