Biography

Private Andrew Daniel (Dan) MacGillivray was born August 7, 1891 in Springfield, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of Angus MacGillivray and Margaret Gillis of Dunmore, and the brother of Private Archibald (Archie) MacGillivray. Private MacGillivray moved to the United States in 1909 and worked as a farmer and miner. Before the war, he worked as a farm labourer in Toole, Montana.

Andrew MacGillivray worked was registered for the American Expeditionary Forces June 5, 1917.

Following the war, Private MacGillivray worked as a miner Butte, Montana. He married Helen Cram July 25, 1929 in Billings, Montana where they resided for sometime then lived in Missoula, Montana. Private Andrew Daniel MacGillivray died May 24, 1931 in the hospital at Fort Harrison, Montana. He is buried in Resurrection cemetery of St. Helena’s Cathedral, St. Helena, Montana.
