Biography

Allan Daniel MacDonald was born May 1, 1917 in Caledonia Mills, Antigonish County. He was the son of John A. MacDonald and Mary Elizabeth MacDonald. His brother. John James MacDonald also served in the Second World War.

MacDonald’s obituary states that he served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Engineers, however a he is listed in a newspaper article kept by family as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps.

After the war, MacDonald worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad as a lineman in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, then in Brownville, Maine. He married Margaret MacIsaac of Cape Breton in 1955 and had three sons and two daughters.

MacDonald died December 7, 1995 at Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He is buried in Pinetree Cemetery, Brownville Junction, Piscataquis County, Maine.
