Biography
Alexander William Chisholm was born January 20, 1892 in Saint Andrews, Antigonish County. He was the son of Duncan Chisholm and Isabela MacDonald. The Chisholm family immigrated to Massachusetts in 1896. Alexander Chisholm became an American citizen as a child when his father was naturalized.
Chisholm enlisted August 15, 1917 and served as a Second Lieutenant of the 304 Army Infantry with the American Expeditionary Force. He was discharged due to demobilization October 21, 1918.
Prior to the war, Chisholm worked as a clerk in 1910 at National Bank in Boston and was a Candidate for National Bank by the time of enlistment. By 1929, Chisholm became assistant vice president of Federal National Bank of Boston, and President of Sandy Burr Country Club. Chisholm also served as trust officer for Federal National Bank, and later worked as a bank examiner for the federal government and the Boston clearinghouse. Chisholm then left the banking industry and became president and treasurer of the Eastern Transport Company of New York until he retired in 1978. Chisholm also served as an executive of Trans Lease Group of Westwood.
Chisholm married Married Philester H. Mooney of Somerville, Massachusetts on January 16, 1929 in Medford, Massachusetts. They had one daughter.
Alexander William Chisholm died March 17, 1985 in Braintree, Massachusetts. He is buried in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline, Massachusetts.
